Enliven your patio with this stylish new design of genuine Mexican chiminea. The Fire model of our 4 Elements range has flames coming out of the bowl, licking the belly and the everpresent sun shining at the top. It is the most traditional of the 4 Elements chimineas is that painted in red and smoke for a lively presence, matching lid with sun.

The 4 Elements range is new and totally unique, which is designed by Gardeco, who is a statement of contemporary style. This model comes with metal stand and clay lid and is 90cm high. Its mouth is designed to take bigger logs and show more of the fire. No assembly required.

Mexican chimineas are the best functioning burners of all patio fires. Their structure and design, perfected over centuries in Central America make them the easiest chimineas to light and the most efficient burners. No need for roaring fires, the clay becomes hot and radiates the heat.

It is important you observe the instructions and maintenance recommendations. Not all fuels and lighting fuels can be used in Mexican chimineas and they will need protection from the weather.

Mexican chimineas are hand-made and hand-painted, so shapes and colours may vary slightly.

How to use your chimenea

  • Best to use on a hard flat surface.
  • Before lighting put 2 inches/50 mm of Gardeco Mexican lava rock or sand in the bottom to protect the base from direct heat.
  • Start the fire with balled newspaper, dry kindling and light with a match.
  • Do not use petrol or spirit because this might crack the chimenea.
  • Dry firewood is the best fuel. Avoid using charcoal or coal which burns too hot.
  • It is essential to allow the chimenea to warm up slowly by keeping the fire small for the first 20 minutes. Add more firewood as the body of the chimenea warms up. Do not build a large fire which might crack the chimenea.
  • Flames and smoke will come out of the funnel of the chimenea and the mouth and interior will blacken with use.

Looking after your chimenea

  • Being made of fire clay which is hard but fragile your chimenea will be damaged if knocked over, or blown over by wind.
  • With use the paint finish will discolour and there will be blackening around the mouth. The chimenea can be repainted with ordinary household emulsion paint after rubbing down to remove any loose paint.
  • Keep the chimenea dry.
  • Do not allow the chimenea to become soaking wet with rain.
  • Chimeneas are not frost-proof so bring inside for the winter.
  • Even if cracked the chimenea will still give good service. Cracks may be repaired with car body filler and repainted.
